1. Introduction

Mintain (“the App,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is a home and equipment maintenance tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: Email address and password (managed through our authentication provider, Supabase)
  • Household information: Household name, property details
  • Asset information: Vehicles, home systems, yard equipment, and recreational items you add, including make, model, year, and mileage/hour readings
  • Maintenance records: Task completion dates, service history, parts purchased, photos you upload. Note: Photos may contain embedded metadata (EXIF data), including GPS coordinates, timestamps, and device information. This metadata may be stored as part of the image file. Users should be aware of this when uploading photos.
  • Preferences: Notification settings, display preferences, theme selection

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, device type (used to deliver appropriate push notifications and optimize the App experience)
  • Push notification tokens: A device-specific token used to deliver push notifications to your device. This is not tied to your personal identity and is used solely for notification delivery.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and general interaction patterns (used to improve the App)
  • Crash reports and logs: If the App encounters an error, diagnostic information such as stack traces, IP addresses, and device identifiers may be collected through our hosting provider (Vercel). This data is used solely for debugging and improving App stability and is not used for tracking or advertising purposes.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Precise GPS location or real-time tracking (note: uploaded photos may contain location metadata as described above)
  • Contacts, phone calls, or text messages
  • Financial information (payments are processed through third-party services; we do not store credit card numbers)
  • Data from other apps on your device

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the App, including maintenance tracking, scheduling, and reminders
  • Send push notifications about upcoming, due, and overdue maintenance tasks
  • Send monthly mileage/hours check-in reminders
  • Display your maintenance history and asset details
  • Improve the App's features, performance, and user experience
  • Communicate with you about your account, service updates, or changes to these policies
  • Detect and prevent misuse or security issues

We do NOT use your information to:

  • Sell to third parties
  • Target you with advertising
  • Build advertising profiles
  • Share with data brokers

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services to operate:

If affiliate links are used in the App, clicking a link will take you to a third-party retailer's website. That retailer's privacy policy governs your interaction with their site. We may receive confirmation that a purchase was made (for commission purposes) but do not receive details about what you purchased or your payment information.

We may use additional third-party service providers to monitor, analyze, or improve the App's functionality. These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and are used solely to support the operation of the App, not for advertising or data resale. Our primary providers (Supabase, Vercel) may in turn use sub-processors such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) for infrastructure hosting.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers provided by Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services) and Vercel. We use industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
  • Row-level security in our database ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Secure authentication with hashed passwords (managed by Supabase Auth)
  • Environment-separated API keys and secrets

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

  • Your profile, assets, maintenance records, and uploaded photos will be permanently deleted from our live database immediately
  • Push notification subscriptions will be removed
  • Notification logs will be deleted
  • Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which it is permanently purged
  • We are unable to recover your data once the deletion process is complete

Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (not tied to your identity) may be retained indefinitely for the purpose of improving the App.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: View all information the App stores about you (visible within the App itself)
  • Correct your data: Edit your assets, tasks, and account information at any time
  • Delete your data: Delete your account and all associated data through the App's Settings
  • Disable notifications: Turn off push notifications at any time through the App's Settings or your device's notification settings
  • Export your data: Request a copy of your data by contacting us at the email below

If you are a resident of California (CCPA/CPRA), the European Union (GDPR), or another jurisdiction with specific data privacy laws, you may have additional rights. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Notice for California Residents: We do not “sell” or “share” your personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not use your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of any future sale or sharing (though none currently occurs). 8. Children's Privacy

Mintain is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

9. Cookies and Tracking

The App uses essential cookies and local storage for:

  • Authentication (keeping you logged in)
  • Storing your preferences (theme, notification snooze status)
  • Session management

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. We do not participate in cross-site tracking.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
